The Foundations of Mindfulness
8-Week Course

​Learn the principles and practices of mindfulness. In this eight-week series, we will explore the foundations of mindfulness and how to incorporate the practices in our lives. We will learn about mindfulness of body, thoughts, and emotions, and discover methods that nurture presence, kindness, and compassion for self and others. This course will also include an exploration into the neuroscience of mindfulness, guided instruction and discussion to support your personal mindfulness and meditation practice. A guidebook and guided meditations will be provided to support your learning. Discover the transformative power of the mindful approach to life this summer. 

This Course Includes:

  • Eight weekly two-hour sessions with an experienced mindfulness educator and practitioner
  • A comprehensive exploration of the foundational principles and practices of mindfulness
  • A Detailed Guidebook with readings and practices to accompany each theme, as well as articles and practices that focus on mindfulness for educators
  • Recorded Guided Meditations provided each week via email
  • Weekly Emails with instructions and links for the length of the course
  • An opportunity to meditate, receive mindful support, and foster connection in a mindful community
  • Support and advice in helping you establish a personal at home mindfulness and meditation practice. 

 
Each week, you will be introduced to mindfulness practices that can strengthen your ability to be more present and aware.
 
Week One:      Introduction to Mindfulness and Mindfulness of Body
Week Two:      Mindfulness of Breathing
Week three:    Mindfulness of Thoughts
Week Four:     Mindfulness of Emotions & Cultivating Kindness
Week Five:      Exploring Feeling Tones
Week Six:        Exploring Compassion
Week Seven:   Exploring Resilience
Week Eight:    Moving Forward
 
Research has demonstrated that participants in mindfulness programs may experience:

Decreased:
stress, anxiety, depression, pain, blood pressure, and illness-related distress 

Improved:
focus, sleep, memory, immune system function, and communication

Numerous Clinical studies have shown the effectiveness of participation in mindfulness meditation in reducing symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression, and improving self-compassion and compassion for others.  Committing to a regular practice will help you experience the many benefits a mindfulness practice can offer.
