Mindfulness for Educators, Parents & Teens
“The more familiar we are with our inner terrain, the more surefooted our teaching- and living- becomes”
-Parker Palmer, The Courage to Teach
![]() Empowering teachers and students with mindfulness practices that cultivate emotional regulation, attention, and inner-calm. Having spent most of my adult life as a teacher both in the US and abroad, I have come to understand the profession as one steeped in caring, generosity, and the love of learning and students. Yet, in the current climate of high stakes testing and the many demands of today's classroom, the world of both teacher and student has become a space suffused with stress, anxiety, and burnout. Too often, we jump to help others without having taken the time to care for ourselves. With mindfulness, we turn inwards and practice self-care in ways that enables us to extend care to others. We are nourished, renewed, and inspired to do the work we were meant to do in this life. Cultivating skills such as present-moment non-judgmental awareness, kindness towards self and others, and being with things as they are unfolding allows teachers to find the presence and well-being to take care of themselves, their students, their families, and their communities. Educators become the models of the values they wish to encourage in their students. When teachers practice mindfulness, their students win...in fact the whole community wins. Mindfulness practices helped me find the balance and peace I was looking for as a teacher.Sharing these practices with my students helped them find a new way of seeing themselves and their world. My goal is to share practices and principles of mindfulness that sustain, nourish, and renew educators and students. I work to help teachers and students find ways to manage stress, nurture balance, and grow compassion.
With mindfulness we create the holding space for our students to become the great thinkers, movers, and leaders they long to be.
May teachers be happy, balanced, and aware
